An adventurous trip home
Today's photo has a story behind it.
Mum and I were going back to Matamata as I have the rest of the week off work. We thought we would wake up early and get going in order to avoid too much traffic on the Motorway going into the city. We heard a clunk on the road but didn't think much of it and kept driving. Then the radio starting flicking and the lights were dimming but we thought we would be fine to get to the mechanics near my work for them to check it out.
Then the car stopped completely. On the motorway. With cars zooming past us on both sides, I called the Police straight away. While i was talking to the emergency services a Police car stopped behind us. We were at the bottom of the Auckland Harbour Bridge and the only way out of this situation was for the Police car to push us from behind. They all have pads on the front of their cars - guess this happens a lot! I took this photo today while we were stopped waiting for the police to start pushing us.
Nothing in the car worked - no A/C, the windows would not open, it was raining, the windscreen was fogging up, and it was still dark, we couldn't see a thing but somehow managed to get over the bridge and off the road at the next exit. We then phoned our Roadside Assistance and they came and ran cables to a battery (which sat by my feet on the floor) so we could at least we could drive the car to the mechanics by my office.
The mechanics managed to locate a part somewhere in Auckland and have it couriered to them and put in the car in less than 2 hours so we were soon on our way again! We expected to be home at 8am but didn't get home until midday.
It was a very adventurous morning!
